The Allen East Mustangs will face off against the Perry Commodores at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Allen East lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Spencerville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 9-2 win on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Perry got the win against Ridgemont on Monday by a conclusive 8-1. The Commodores have beaten the Golden Gophers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Golden Gophers has come to flipping the script.
Colten Scott made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Perry is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Scott was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marshall Capps, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brodey Douce, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Perry's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Allen East, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Allen East has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Allen East's way against Perry in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Allen East made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Commodores have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
