Sickles is 8-2 against Alonso since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Gryphons will take on the Ravens in a tournament on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sickles barely beat Steinbrenner the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gryphons were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Warriors on Thursday. Considering the Gryphons have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ben Durda looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emilio Salgado, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Shearer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Alonso entered their tilt with Newsome on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 4-1. Four seems to be a good number for the Ravens as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Noah Renew got the start for Alonso and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Renew has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Raymond Llanes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Alonso: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joshua Abrahante, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Alonso was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newsome only posted a batting average of .160.
Alonso's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Sickles, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Sickles got the 'W' when the teams last played back in February against Alonso by a conclusive 24-14 score. Do the Gryphons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ravens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
