Washougal hasn't had much luck against R.A. Long recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Lumberjacks at 4:00 p.m. Washougal has given up an average of 17.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Washougal's offense. They lost 23-0 to Ridgefield on Monday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Washougal saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stella Genova, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask R.A. Long). They never let Hudson's Bay get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Friday. The Lumberjacks have beaten the Eagles the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Edie Korpi (2026) and Zoey Jason (2029) made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Korpi (2026) struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Jason (2029) pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Korpi (2026) got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Jason (2029) got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those RBI were Korpi (2026)'s first of the season.
In other batting news, R.A. Long got a massive performance out of Malia Byrnes (2026), who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that Byrnes (2026) has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kace Prindle (2026), who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
R.A. Long always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Washougal now has a losing record of 2-3. As for R.A. Long, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Washougal has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. However, it's not like R.A. Long struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Washougal couldn't quite get it done against R.A. Long in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 13-9. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
