The Thornton Wildcats waltzed into their contest Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 60-39 margin over Hammond Bishop Noll. The result was nothing new for Thornton, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Thornton had a senior duo take command as Morez Johnson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds and Isaiah Green scored 15 points along with seven assists and four steals. The matchup was Johnson's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Meyoh Swansey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amauri Moore, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Parks, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Thornton's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Thornton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hyde Park at 8:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Hyde Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Thornton likes a good challenge. Hammond Bishop Noll and Crete-Monee will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crete-Monee is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
