The Cardinals subdued stubborn Oak Hills (Cincinnati, Ohio) 29-17 on Senior Night behind three touchdowns by DeTuan Smith-Moore.
Next: Saturday vs. Springboro (9-1) in opening Division I state playoff game

2. (2) St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) 8-1
The Eagles pulled out a miraculous 41-40 victory over powerhouse Eastern Christian Academy (Elkton, Md.) at the University of Pennsylvania. Brett Kean tied the school record with five touchdown passes, including the winning 24-yard strike to Dan Lentz with six seconds left. That also was his school-record 20th scoring pass of the year.

3. (3) Cass Tech (Detroit) 10-0
The Technicians raised their winning streak to 16 games with a 35-0 victory over South (Grosse Pointe) in their Division I state playoff opener. Mike Weber ran 15 times for 221 yards and two touchdowns, while Jayru Campbell completed 10 of 14 passes for 112 yards and three touchdowns.
Next: Saturday vs. unbeaten Warren Mott (Warren) for the Division I district title

4. (4) Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) 10-0
The Warriors blanked Birmingham Groves (Beverly Hills) 42-0 in their Division II state playoff opener as Brian Walker and Alex Malzone each scored a pair of touchdowns.
Next: Friday vs. Seaholm (Birmingham) for the Division II district title
 
5. (5) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) 9-1
The Crusaders rolled past Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) 42-14 in a match-up of defending state champions. Veteran quarterback Gus Ragland carried a major load by completing 5 of 8 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns and running 10 times for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
Next: Saturday vs. St. Xavier (Cincinnati) in the first round of the Division I state playoffs

6. (6) Montini (Lombard, Ill.) 10-0
Overcoming three interceptions, Alex Wills completed 23 of 33 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns as the Broncos defeated Morgan Park (Chicago) 43-6 in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs. The defense forced five turnovers and allowed just 90 yards.

7. (7) Blue Springs (Mo.) 10-0
The Wildcats scored three times on interceptions during their Class 6 state playoff opener, a 42-0 blanking of Lee’s Summit North (Lee’s Summit).

8. (8) Eden Prairie (Minn.) 9-0
Despite a malfunctioning scoreboard and clock, the Eagles soared to a 49-11 victory over Centennial (Circle Pines) during the second round of the Class 6A state playoffs. Anthony Anderson scored twice and rushed for 110 yards on just five carries, while Dan Fisher and Charlie Venable both scored two touchdowns.
Next: Friday vs. Lakeville North (Lakeville) in the 6A quarterfinals at the Metrodome

9. (9) Penn (Mishawaka, Ind.) 11-0
Central Michigan University recruit Zach Oakley ran eight times for 207 yards and two touchdowns while also passing for two touchdowns during a 30-0 victory over Chesterton for the Class 6A sectional championship.
Next: Friday at Lake Central (St. John) for the 6A regional title

10. (10) Mount Carmel (Chicago) 9-1
The Caravan launched their Class 7A state playoffs with a 49-6 victory over Benet Academy (Lisle). Christian Searles scored three touchdowns in the first quarter, two on passes and one on an interception, while Marko Boricich fired three touchdown passes.
Next: Friday vs. once-beaten St. Rita (Chicago) in the second round

11. (11) Loyola Academy (Wilmette, Ill.) 9-1
Jack Penn ran for two touchdowns and passed for one as the Ramblers raced past Lane Tech (Chicago) in their Class 8A state playoff opener. Johnny Burns carried 12 times for 113 yards and one touchdown.
Next: Saturday at Notre Dame (Niles) in the second round

12. (12) Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) 9-1
The Hilltopers extended their winning streak to nine games with a 49-14 victory over Harlem (Machesney Park) in their Class 7A state playoff opener. Scott Andrews carried just eight times, but he gained 183 yards and scored four times, in addition to catching a 31-yard touchdown pass.
Next: Saturday at Conant (Hoffman Estates) in the second round

13. (13) Dowling (West Des Moines, Iowa) 10-0
The Maroons routed Sioux City West (Sioux City) 63-10 in their Class 4A state playoff opener. Nate Christian ran 13 times for 143 yards and one touchdown, while Chase Dowell added 114 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.
Next: Played Monday in the second round against Southeast Polk (Pleasant Hill)

14. (14) Austintown-Fitch (Youngstown, Ohio) 10-0
The Falcons edged Cardinal Mooney (Youngstown, Ohio) 19-14 to complete the first undefeated regular season in their history. Antwan Harris rushed for 179 yards and a victory-clinching touchdown, while Joey Harrington accounted for the other two scores.

15. (15) Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.) 10-1
The Trojans blanked Jeffersonville 35-0 to win the Class 6A sectional. Luke Calvert passed for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

16. (16) Homestead (Mequon, Wis.) 11-0
The Highlanders raised their winning streak to 17 games with a 28-20 victory over Hamilton (Sussex) in the second round of the Division 2 state playoffs. Junior quarterback Nick Allen ran 16 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns, while also passing for 140 yards. Eric Wade ran 26 times for 102 yards and one score.
Next: Friday vs. unbeaten Kimberly in the state quarterfinals

17. (17) Bolingbrook (Ill.) 10-0
The Raiders took advantage of four turnovers to score 42 points in the second quarter en route to a 48-12 victory over Bloom Township (Chicago Heights) in their Class 8A state playoff opener. Junior Quincy Woods scored three touchdowns, two on runs.

18. (18) Dakota (Macomb, Mich.) 10-0
The Cougars opened Division I state playoff action with a 19-14 victory over De La Salle Collegiate (Warren) before an overflow crowd estimated at 6,000. Tyler Crowell dominated by completing 19 of 32 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns.
Next: Friday vs. Chippewa Valley (Clinton Township) in the second round

19. (19) St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio) 10-0
The Fighting Irish boosted their winning streak to 16 games with a 40-7 victory over Ursuline (Youngstown, Ohio). Parris Campbell ran 12 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns, while Vince Lockett added 129 yards and one touchdown. The defense yielded only 64 yards.
Next: Friday vs. Kenston (Chagrin Falls) in the Division III state playoff opener

20. (20) Glenbard North (Carol Stream, Ill.) 9-1
The Panthers won their ninth consecutive game with a 35-10 victory over New Trier (Winnetka) in their Class 8A state playoff opener. Northwestern University recruit Justin Jackson dominated with 28 carries for 340 yards and three touchdowns.

21. (21) Lincoln (Sioux Falls, S.D.) 9-0
The Patriots rolled past Stevens (Rapid City) 42-7 in their Class AAA state playoff opener as Caden Quintanilla ran 13 times for 215 yards and one touchdown.
Next: Friday vs. O’Gorman (Sioux Falls) in the state semifinals

22. (22) Lake Zurich (Ill.) 9-1
The Bears opened the Class 7A state playoffs with a 35-6 victory over Elk Grove (Elk Grove Village). Noah Allgood rushed 11 times for 128 yards and one touchdown, while Dominic McNeil had two of the team’s four sacks.
Next: Saturday vs. Hononegah (Rockton) in the second round

23. (23) Carroll (Wichita, Kan.) 9-0
The Golden Eagles raised their winning streak to 22 games with a 53-18 rout of Liberal (Kan.) on Senior Night as Colton Howell passed for a pair of touchdowns. Tory Smith controlled the ground game by running for 170 yards and two scores.
Next: Friday vs. Newton in Class 5A state playoff opener

24. (NR) Southport (Indianapolis) 11-0
The Cardinals jumped into the Top 25 with a 27-10 victory over Arsenal Tech (Indianapolis) to win the Class 6A sectional. Christian Perry was the standout with 30 carries for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Next: Friday at No. 15 Center Grove (Greenwood) for the regional title

25. (25) Bismarck (N.D.) 10-0
The Demons raised their winning streak to 27 games with a 34-21 victory over West Fargo in the Class AAA state quarterfinals. Ricardo Galindo dominated with 23 carries for 205 yards and four touchdowns.
Next: Friday vs. Century (Bismarck) in the AAA state semifinals

No. 24 Ben Davis (Indianapolis) lost to Pike (Indianapolis) 34-32 in the Class 6A sectional finals.
