Clifton Cooper of Ponder is Texas high school football's leader in passing yardage with 4,254 yards, according to statistics
submitted to MaxPreps. Although the 6-foot, 165-pound senior's career ended with a 69-29 loss to Whitesboro last weekend, Cooper
completed 26 of 49 passes for 394 yards and four touchdowns during his
final outing.
Cooper threw for 300 yards or better nine times in 2022 and is the only Texas
signal caller to hit the 4,000-yard mark. For the season, he connected on 297 of 474 attempts with 41 touchdowns against 14 interceptions.
After
throwing for 198 yards and a score last weekend, Blake Flowers of Seminole is up to 3,626
yards on 245 of 345 attempts this fall.
Flowers has thrown 43 TD passes during Seminole's 9-1 start to the
season. The 6-1, 185-pound senior has now thrown for 8,272 yards and 75
scores during his career.
