The Collinsville Kahoks will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Collinsville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Thursday, Collinsville didn't have too much trouble with Mater Dei at home as they won 52-36. Given Collinsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Mater Dei is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zach Chambers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that he grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Nick Horras, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Decatur Eisenhower was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 43-39 to Champaign Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Decatur Eisenhower has scored all season.
Collinsville's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Decatur Eisenhower, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Everything went Collinsville's way against Decatur Eisenhower when the teams last played back in December of 2019 as Collinsville made off with a 65-40 win. Will Collinsville repeat their success, or does Decatur Eisenhower have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
