II Section VI recap September 10, 2013
Westwood took down Maryvale 64-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kane Tieman threw for 142 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 39 yards during the win.
Campo Verde made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,713 from 2,854. The improvement came about via a 37-13 victory over Thunderbird last week.
Marcos de Niza's dynamic duo of Joshua Eckley and Jake Lagunas proved tough for Chaparral to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Eckley threw for 340 yards and 6 touchdowns and Lagunas had 129 yards receiving. N'Keal Harry helped Marcos de Niza's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 88 yards.
The Padres' dynamic duo of Eckley and Lagunas proved to be unstoppable against the Firebirds, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He was 17-25 with 2 interceptions.
Gabe Rey made the biggest impact on defense this week as Poston Butte topped Dobson. The 5-foot-10 senior.
Lagunas was the best wideout in II Section VI this week as Marcos de Niza beat Chaparral.
Dezmond Sueing was the best running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 208 yards as the Warriors bested David Huffine's team.
Eckley put up the best numbers through the air as the Padres topped the Firebirds.
Marcos de Niza's Eckley and Lagunas have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Eckley has thrown for 557 yards this season, while Lagunas has 9 catches for 178 yards. The Broncos' Brandon Hatfield leads the league in rushing yards with 385.
Westwood led II Section VI in scoring this week after putting up 64 points on the Panthers. Tieman in the win.
