Baseball Recap: Somonauk Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Somonauk extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 11-8 in the process. They had just enough and edged out the Serena Huskers 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 on Monday.

As for Serena, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 8th.

For Serena's part, Tucker Whiteaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Serena saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Raikes, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Raikes is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somonauk will head out to challenge Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Serena, they are taking a road trip to face off against Yorkville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Huskers surely won't give up without a fight.
