It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Chesapeake Bay Hawks can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Elkton on Friday, falling 54-14. Chesapeake just can't catch a break and has now endured four defeats in a row.
Josh Brill had a dynamite game for Elkton, rushing for 114 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, while also picking up 56 receiving yards. Brill was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Solomon Pope and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Elkton's win.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Elkton's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Tyree Brown was the leader with two sacks.
Chesapeake bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.8 points per game. As for Elkton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Chesapeake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Elkton will head out on the road to face off against Harford Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
