The Sandia Matadors stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Cibola at home to the tune of 75-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Sandia has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sandia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Benally, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Benally has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Giddings, who scored 21 points along with four steals.
Sandia pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 41.9 points. As for Cibola, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sandia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Del Norte at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Cibola won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Organ Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th.
