The Mullen Mustangs will head out to face off against the Grandview Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mullen can't be too worried about heading out to take on Grandview: they just beat Arapahoe at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Mullen walked away with a 54-47 win over Arapahoe on Friday.

Mullen can attribute much of their success to Makenzie Jones, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 19 points and eight boards, and Tatum Jones, who went 6-for-11 on her way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Makenzie is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. Another player making a difference was Chloe Pelster, who posted eight points.
Meanwhile, Grandview had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 79-12 victory over the Buffaloes. The Wolves' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Mullen better keep an eye on Sienna Betts. She was instrumental in Grandview's win, almost dropping a triple-double with 28 points, 17 rebounds, and nine assists. Betts has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 41 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Smith, who went 8-for-10 en route to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.
Grandview was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Grandview's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for Mullen, their record now sits at 13-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mullen has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26 boards per game. However, it's not like Grandview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Mullen ended up a good deal behind Grandview when the teams last played back in January, losing 51-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Betts, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 17 boards. Now that Mullen knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
