The Montverde Academy Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 97-66 win over Oak Ridge at home. Montverde Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 27 points or more this season.
Montverde Academy had a senior duo take command as Cooper Flagg dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds and Derik Queen dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Flagg hasn't dropped below two blocks for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Wright III, who scored 11 points along with nine assists.
Montverde Academy's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-0. As for Oak Ridge, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-3.
Montverde Academy and Prolific Prep of Napa Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Prolific Prep of Napa Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 26 contests -- so hopefully Montverde Academy likes a good challenge. As for Oak Ridge, Oak Ridge and Brewster Academy National will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Brewster Academy National's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
