Tocoi Creek has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Matanzas Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Tocoi Creek has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 24 points or more this season. They breezed by Trinity Christian Academy on the road to the tune of 42-8. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Audrey Beyer and Gabi Iturralde were among the main playmakers for Tocoi Creek as the former scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 16 points along with six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Iturralde has scored at least 25% of Tocoi Creek's points. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Valcin, who scored three points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Matanzas had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Atlantic on Tuesday as Matanzas made off with a 42-19 victory.
Tocoi Creek's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Matanzas, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Everything came up roses for Tocoi Creek against Matanzas in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-15 victory. Does Tocoi Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Matanzas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
