The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Hurricane 64-58. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crimson Cliffs in their matchups with Hurricane: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colleen Korella, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and four steals. It was the first time this season that Korella scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsey Plewe, who scored 16 points.
Hurricane's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nizhoni Dominguez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Dominguez is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Whitnie Esplin, who scored 16 points.
Crimson Cliffs' defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Hurricane, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Crimson Cliffs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. Crimson Cliffs is facing Pine View at the right time seeing as Pine View is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hurricane, they will head out on the road to challenge Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Snow Canyon will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something Hurricane surely won't give up without a fight.
