The Calvary Saints will head out on the road to challenge the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully the Hilltoppers like a good challenge.
Last Friday, Calvary didn't have too much trouble with the Redskins at home as they won 67-53.
Luke Blackford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 34 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Calvary's points. Connor Brown was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists and six steals.
Meanwhile, Mt. Pulaski didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Crusaders on Friday, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mt. Pulaski.
Calvary pushed their record up to 18-8 with that victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Mt. Pulaski, their win bumped their record up to 11-16.
Calvary took their victory against the Hilltoppers when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 82-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calvary since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
