The North Pocono Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the West Scranton Invaders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Pocono is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
North Pocono is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Pennsbury on Saturday. They lost 7-1 to the Falcons. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
North Pocono saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avarie Roscioli, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, West Scranton entered their tilt with Wyoming Valley West on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That's two games straight that the Invaders have won by exactly ten runs.
The result came thanks to Kaleiah Connor's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mckenna Brudnicki, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Sophia Deluca also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
West Scranton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
West Scranton's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for North Pocono, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. North Pocono hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like West Scranton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
North Pocono got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against West Scranton by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
