Softball Recap: St. Peter Wins Going Away Against Waseca

St. Peter won the last time they faced Waseca and things went their way on Thursday too. The Saints blew past the Bluejays 11-1. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Saints this season.

Auden Anderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Liebl, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Allie Dent was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

St. Peter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

St. Peter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Waseca, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

Coming up, St. Peter will challenge Albert Lea at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight. As for Waseca, they are taking a road trip to take on Blue Earth at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bluejays are facing the Buccaneers at the right time seeing as the Buccaneers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
