4A I-Meck recap Oct. 23, 2012
Hough extended the longest winning streak in 4A I-Meck this week by beating Lake Norman, 17-9. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Huskies.
Jalen Latter and Larenz Bryant gave Vance a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Latter threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns, while Bryant ran for 193 yards. Teammate Nolan Corpening added to the ground attack by rushing for 127 yards.
Josh Ladowski provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Wildcats lost to Hough. He completed eight passes for 65 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 147 yards. Ladowski's favorite target this week was Jermaine Blakely, who caught three passes for 29 yards.
Nicholas Burrow was the best wideout in the league this week as Bobby Collins' team defeated Lake Norman. Burrow tallied four receptions for 64 yards. Sanders Poff helped Hough's passing attack out by catching three balls for 48 yards.
The Huskies' Josh Stilley and Poff have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Stilley has thrown for 1733 yards this season, while Poff has 31 catches for 688 yards. Bryant from the Cougars leads the league in rushing with 1400 yards.
The marquee game in 4A I-Meck this week will be the clash between Hough and Mallard Creek. The Huskies enters the contest ranked 21st in the state, while the Mavericks ranks sixth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hough takes on Mallard Creek. The Huskies have allowed 151 points this season, while Michael Palmieri's team has given up 68. Hough allowed 9 points last week as it bested Rob Mcneely's team.
The Mavericks led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on West Charlotte.
