Wausa has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Bloomfield Bees at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wausa will be strutting in after a win while the Bees will be coming in after a loss.
Wausa scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They came out on top against Winside by a score of 46-28 (the very same score they lost by the week prior). For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Wausa has managed all season.
Wausa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sienna West, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Elle Brazel was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Bloomfield came up short against the Indians on Tuesday and fell 42-33. Bloomfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kora Poppe put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Abbenhaus, who scored eight points.
Wausa's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Bloomfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Wausa was taken down by the Bees 58-27 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Abbenhaus, who scored 23 points. Now that Wausa knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
