Reagan Peri was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren McMeel, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Geneva waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Panthers. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by eight runs or more this season.
Like Master's Academy, Geneva also got a great game from a two-way player: Bella Ortiz. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ortiz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Chloe Incinelli and Emma Bastian did most of the damage at the plate: Incinelli went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Bastian went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Ella Ingram was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Geneva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.
Geneva's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Master's Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season.
Master's Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Geneva, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Master's Academy continue to outrun the ball?
Master's Academy might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Geneva in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
