Brittney Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. The last time her OBP was this high was back in September of 2023. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a double.
In other batting news, Angelique Radford was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, a triple, and two RBI. Braedyn Quarles was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Brantley County got themselves on the board against Lakeside on Friday, but Lakeside never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Panthers. While the Herons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Lakeside's batters probably weren't too happy with Reagan Mclain, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up two walks).
On the hitting side, Lydia Anderson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
Evans now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Brantley County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
