The Madill Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Byng Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Madill earned a 48-35 victory over Plainview. Given Madill's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Plainview is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ethan Wilkerson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Madill's points. Mason Roberts was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Byng entered their tilt with Marietta with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Byng breezed by Marietta at home to the tune of 85-57 on Tuesday. Byng has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.
Madill is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. As for Byng, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7.
Madill won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Byng 39-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madill since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
