Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Los Fresnos 35-7 at home. The win was nothing new for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo as they're now sitting on eight straight.
It was another big night for Jaime Lopez, who threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo also got help from Tony Gomez who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Los Fresnos to a paltry 209 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out 4.5 times before it was all said and done. Los Fresnos' QB won't forget Jorge Rios anytime soon given Rios sacked him twice.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 8-3 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points per game. As for Los Fresnos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will square off against Brennan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brennan is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Los Fresnos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
