The Madison Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the Owen Warhorses at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Madison comes in on seven and Owen on five.
Madison proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Draughn 5-4.

Carrie Gunter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
Gunter wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylee Ball, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Owen made easy work of Rosman on Thursday and carried off a 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Warhorses, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Madison, Owen also got a great game from a two-way player: Sophie Neal. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Neal was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Payten Brockman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Kylie Gurecky was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Owen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosman only managed eight hits.
Madison's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Owen, their record is now 12-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Madison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Owen struggles in that department as they've averaged .389. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Madison suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Owen in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
