Tori Baker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 assists. Those 12 assists gave her a new career-high. Kimora Banks-Thomas was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 14 points and six boards.
Meanwhile, Mountain Vista didn't have too much trouble with Castle View on Friday as they won 66-50. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Sabercats are ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Highlands Ranch better keep an eye on Kennedy Spellman. She was instrumental in Mountain Vista's win, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Spellman has scored at least a third of Mountain Vista's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Akey, who posted nine points along with seven boards and four steals.
Mountain Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Highlands Ranch's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.4 points. As for Mountain Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Everything went Highlands Ranch's way against Mountain Vista when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Highlands Ranch made off with an 84-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highlands Ranch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
