The Perry Central Commodores will head out to challenge the Mitchell Bluejackets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Perry Central's victory against Orleans wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Commodores had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Zac Mitchell and Owen Hubert were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mitchell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hubert struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mitchell also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Perry Central is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. At the plate, Mitchell went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Hubert got on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave Mitchell a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cohen Edwards was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Gehlhausen, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Perry Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mitchell made easy work of White River Valley on Wednesday and carried off a 9-2 victory.
The team relied heavily on Conner Teague, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ryker Moore also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Perry Central's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mitchell, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Mitchell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Perry Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for Mitchell, though, as they've only averaged .211. Will they be able to contain Perry Central's hitters?
