The Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were outmatched by Santa Fe Catholic on the road and fell 76-47. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy has scored all season.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Reynolds, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Chanda, who scored seven points along with 18 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Fe Catholic only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Santa Fe Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tate Darner, who scored 18 points along with five assists and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Darner posted two or more blocks. Hudson Dykhuizen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Santa Fe Catholic, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and The First Academy will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The First Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy is ranked 35th). As for Santa Fe Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Victory Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m.
