Gates Chili hasn't had much luck against Penfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Spartans will square off against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Gates Chili is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Webster Thomas.

Cole Gorman spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gates Chili saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew McManus, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
Hilton hit Penfield with a six-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cadets. Surprisingly, this marked the Patriots' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Penfield also got a good showing from Dom Denecke, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Gabe Reyes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Joey Bianchi, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Gates Chili's record now sits at 4-8. As for Penfield, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-8.
Gates Chili might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Penfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
