The Liberty Bison will venture away from home to challenge the Poly Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
If Liberty beats Poly with seven runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Bison beat Arlington on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6.
Jennessy Lopez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Cameryn Rutkoff was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Lopez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Bison are 8-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Poly had taken Valley View down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Bears took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Katelyn Cortez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
Liberty pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Liberty hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.3 home runs per game. However, it's not like Poly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
