Despite the defeat, Adams Central saw an underclassman step up: Hunter Nepple scored 19 points. The matchup was Nepple's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Austin Vontz, who scored 11 points.
Boone Central/Newman Grove's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Adams Central, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.
