Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Howell should expect quite the challenge on Saturday. They will take on Freehold Boro at 1:00 PM. If the contest is anything like the 35-55 finish from the last time they met, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
Things haven't been easy for Howell, and their match last Friday only extended their streak of losses to six. They came up short against Southern Regional, falling 18-28. Howell got a solid performance out of junior Jason Caston, who accumulated 177 passing yards and picked up 40 yards on the ground; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory.
Meanwhile, everything went Freehold Boro's way against Lacey Township as they made off with a 35-7 win. The high-flying offensive effort was a definite turnaround from Freehold Boro's flat performance the matchup before.
Freehold Boro's win lifted them to 5-3 while Howell's defeat dropped them down to 1-6. We'll find out if Freehold Boro can add another positive mark to their record or if Howell can shake off the defeat and take the spring out of Freehold Boro's step.
