The biggest upset of the week belonged to New Hope, who took down 43rd ranked New Hope, 19-0.
Oxford extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region 1 this week by beating Lake Cormorant, 26-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Kaelin Thomas was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 116 yards as Center Hill topped Saltillo. Curderion Hampton also contributed to the rushing game with 31 yards on the ground.
Gillespie was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs beat the Tigers. Gillespie racked up six receptions for 88 yards. Dante Miller helped Center Hill's passing attack out by catching two balls for 36 yards.
Parker Adamson put up the best numbers through the air as Oxford bested Lake Cormorant. He finished with 13 completions for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Adamson's favorite target this week was Jarius Barnes, who caught three passes for 49 yards.
Hunter Ivie made the biggest impact on defense this week as Center Hill beat Saltillo. The 6-foot-0 defensive lineman forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
6-foot-5 quarterback Adamson of Johnny Hill's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1420. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Pat Byrd's team's Andrew Soper has rushed for 642 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Gillespie. The Center Hill star has 49 catches for 549 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on West Point. Saltillo is in third place, while the Green Wave are in second place.
West Point took down Clarksdale 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
