The Amplus Academy Archers will head out on the road to square off against the Cheyenne Desert Shields at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Amplus Academy and five for Cheyenne.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-15, which was the final score in Amplus Academy's tilt against Clark on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Amplus Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Clark is ranked 23rd).
The losing side was boosted by Falna Ahferom, who scored eight points.
Cheyenne suffered their biggest defeat since December 26, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-33 walloping at the hands of Somerset Academy Losee.
Amplus Academy's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Cheyenne, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Amplus Academy came up short against Cheyenne in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 56-47. Can Amplus Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
