Whiting extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-15. They lost 16-3 to the North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 on Saturday.
Whiting saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Jimenez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double. Another was Kaiden Kender, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for North Judson-San Pierre, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
On North Judson-San Pierre's side, Ayson Harper made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Harper has become a key player for North Judson-San Pierre: the team is 6-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Harper was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Damon Stamps looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
Back at the plate, North Judson-San Pierre got a massive performance out of Brody Bridegroom, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Bridegroom is becoming a predictor of the Bluejays' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-7-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Roberts, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whiting will welcome Griffith at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.56 runs per game on average), something the Oilers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Judson-San Pierre, they will be playing at home against North Miami at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bluejays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
