The West Hills Wolf Pack will head out on the road to take on the Eastlake Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Eastlake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
West Hills barely beat Brawley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolf Pack put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 11-4 win on Saturday. The Wolf Pack not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th.
Ava Goodman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katy Spargo, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Sofie Jo Grosch also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
West Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brawley only posted an OBP of .276.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against Sage Creek by a score of 9-4 last Friday.
Kaili Balajadia tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Eastlake let Jaelene Jenkins and Deziree Gomez run wild. Jenkins scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Gomez went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most runs Jenkins has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bri Ayap, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
West Hills has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eastlake, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 9-4-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. West Hills hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eastlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
West Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastlake when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-4. Do the Wolf Pack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
