The Williams Yellowjackets can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They managed a 49-44 win over Pierce. The win was just what Williams needed coming off of a 82-27 loss in their prior match.
Williams got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Diego Ambriz out in front who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Brunner , who scored 13 points.
Pierce's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drew Burnum, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Burnum scored a full 27.3% of Pierce's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Alfonso Orozco was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Williams' win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Pierce, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Williams will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Los Molinos at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Pierce will be home for the holidays to greet Orland at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Orland will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
