The Nazareth Area Blue Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Liberty Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Nazareth Area has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while the Hurricanes will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Thursday, Nazareth Area came up short against the Rovers and fell 46-39. That's two games in a row now that Nazareth Area has lost by exactly seven points.
Meanwhile, Liberty had just enough and edged the Patriots out 31-29 on Friday. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Patriots are ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nazareth Area's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Liberty, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Nazareth Area skirted past the Hurricanes 58-55 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nazareth Area since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
