The Cross Trojans stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 61-41 margin over Charleston Math & Science. The win was familiar territory for Cross who now have nine in a row.
Cross' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamez Way led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Way is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Caden Ramsey, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Charleston Math & Science lost, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Williams. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gilliard, who scored eight points.
Cross has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Charleston Math & Science, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Cross will head out on the road to challenge the Phoenix at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmetto Scholars Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Trojans are ranked 134th). As for Charleston Math & Science, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the NaviGators at 7:30 p.m. Lowcountry Leadership is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
