LaBelle is 1-9 against Avon Park since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. LaBelle will look to defend their home field against Avon Park at 7:00 p.m. LaBelle will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
LaBelle is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over Southeastern Prep Academy on Thursday. With that victory, the Cowboys/Cowgirls brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Walter McKown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson White, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for LaBelle: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Beau Collier, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
LaBelle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Avon Park waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Highlanders. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Avon Park also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Eric Harrison gave up only one earned run on nine hits and racked up six Ks. Harrison has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Avon Park's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jace King, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
LaBelle has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Avon Park's win bumped their record up to 14-5.
LaBelle's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. LaBelle has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Avon Park, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will LaBelle continue to outrun the ball?
