West Phoenix was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to first in Charter 3A (8 Man). Earlier in the week, the Eagles defeated Mohave Accelerated 22-20.
NFL Yet Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Crestview College Prep, 38-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for NFL Yet Academy.
The Patriots' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Clay Merrigan threw for 106 and two touchdowns and Andre Roos had 77 yards receiving. On the ground Dominick Issacson chipped in 164 yards. Tyler Van Mullen helped Mohave Accelerated's passing attack out by catching three balls for 29 yards.
NFL Yet Academy's Armando Ruiz Jr. and Leroy Pete have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ruiz Jr. has thrown for 561 yards this season, while Pete, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 11 catches for 279 yards. Issacson from Mohave Accelerated leads the league in rushing with 464 yards.
A big matchup in Charter 3A (8 Man) this week will be when NFL Yet Academy takes on Heritage Academy. NFL Yet Academy is in second place, while the Heroes are in third place.
NFL Yet Academy took down the Knights 38-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
