Two dominant backs in Kari Bennett and Kb Henderson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Daniel Lions will be playing at home against the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Daniel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 504 points over their last ten contests.
Daniel stacked a tenth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Crescent at home to the tune of 50-0. Given Daniel's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Crescent is ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Daniel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kolton Chapman, who rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Bennett, who rushed for 32 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Blue Ridge had to settle for a 24-21 loss against Travelers Rest on Friday. Blue Ridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Henderson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Henderson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Daniel's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.75 points. As for Blue Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Daniel has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 236.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Blue Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 215.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
