The Rose Hill Christian Royals will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Ignite Athletics Flames at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Rose Hill Christian and seven for Ignite Athletics.
Last Friday, Rose Hill Christian took a serious blow against Elliott County, falling 75-35. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rose Hill Christian in their matchups with Elliott County: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Ignite Athletics struggled with threes last Monday (Expression Prep Academy had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ignite Athletics had to suffer through a rough 79-38 loss at the hands of Expression Prep Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Charlie Hanks, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. He scored a full 34.2% of Ignite Athletics' points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Braxton Stricklin was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Rose Hill Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Ignite Athletics, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Rose Hill Christian barely slipped by Ignite Athletics when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 66-65. Does Rose Hill Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ignite Athletics turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
