Basketball Recap: Savannah Riley and Aiyana Dixon Secure Win for Laurel Hill

On Monday, the Laurel Hill Hoboes rang in the new year with a 60-51 win over the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hoboes.

Laurel Hill was led to victory by Aiyana Dixon and Savannah Riley. Dixon dropped a double-double on 25 points and 17 rebounds, while Riley almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Dixon's evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Teagan Foley, who posted seven points.

North Bay Haven Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ally Brady, who had ten points and six rebounds. Kaylee Goodpaster was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Laurel Hill's record now sits at 10-4. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they dropped their record down to 7-6 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Laurel Hill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-44 victory against Baker on the 7th. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-25 win against Port St. Joe on the 7th.
