Birmingham has gone a perfect 10-0 against Granada Hills Charter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Granada Hills Charter will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Birmingham extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Patriots took their matchup with ease, bagging a 69-14 win over Taft. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Toreadors are ranked 664th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Birmingham's victory came down to the chemistry between Kevin Hawkins and his top target Paul Turner. Hawkins threw for 112 yards and three touchdowns on only six passes while Turner picked up 122 receiving yards and three scores. Those three passing touchdowns gave Hawkins a new career-high.
Birmingham's run defense was locked in: Taft could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. While four picked up at least two total tackles, Turner stood above the rest. He picked up 122 receiving yards and three TDs. Birmingham didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Birmingham, racking up 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Turner, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Granada Hills Charter blew past Chatsworth, posting a 46-17 win. The victory continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Chancellors: they've now won nine in a row.
Birmingham better keep an eye on Dean Rosales. He was instrumental in Granada Hills Charter's win, rushing for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. Rosales also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Highlanders are 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Granada Hills Charter also got a significant boost from Michael Osuna, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
One reason for the win was Granada Hills Charter's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Evan Barte-Plange was the leader with two.
The win got Granada Hills Charter back to even at 4-4. As for Birmingham, their record now sits at 5-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Birmingham has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Granada Hills Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 314.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Birmingham against Granada Hills Charter when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
