The Weslaco Panthers and Macedonian Christian will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Weslaco is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Weslaco faced off against Mercedes on Thursday. The Panthers blew past the Tigers 74-45. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kade Lopez and Michael Fuentes were among the main playmakers for Weslaco as the former went 7-for-9 on his way to 19 points and five steals and the latter shot 78% from the field to rack up 18 points and three steals. Lopez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai L Fino, who posted seven points and five assists.
Weslaco was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They are 8-3 when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, Macedonian Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 57-38 to Miller. While losing is never fun, Macedonian Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1076th, while Miller is ranked 250th).
Weslaco will need to focus on slowing down Jace Martinez, one of several Macedonian Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He had four points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Colin Vavra, who scored six points and 13 boards.
Weslaco's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Macedonian Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Weslaco has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 34.3% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Macedonian Christian, though, as they've only made 25.9% of their threes this season.
