The St. Mary Gaels will head out on the road to square off against the Leonia Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leonia took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Mary, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, St. Mary was able to grind out a solid win over St. Joseph Regional, taking the game 53-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Mary.
Meanwhile, Leonia's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 61-34 loss at the hands of Fort Lee.
St. Mary pushed their record up to 18-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Leonia, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
St. Mary didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Leonia in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-61 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
