The Mahanoy Area Golden Bears will face off against the Southern Columbia Area Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mahanoy Area barely beat Notre Dame the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Mahanoy Area put the hurt on Notre Dame with a sharp 15-2 victory on Saturday. The Golden Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Levi Terry made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Mike Oblas was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Donovan Herman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Mahanoy Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Southern Columbia Area got the win against Central Columbia on Thursday by a conclusive 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three games by 13 runs or more so far this season.
Like Mahanoy Area, Southern Columbia Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Caden Hopper. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hopper was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other pitching news, Guy Longenberger looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Southern Columbia Area let Brayden Andrews and Levi Everitt run wild. Andrews scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Everitt scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Everitt also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kole Myers, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Southern Columbia Area's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mahanoy Area, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
