The Jefferson Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Lewis Central 66-16. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Lewis Central is ranked 109th).
Grace Strong was Jefferson's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Lennon Simek held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with an assist.
Jefferson bumped their record down to 0-2 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.6 points per game. As for Lewis Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sioux City West at 5:30 p.m. on December 5th. As for Lewis Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Albert at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
