While it was all tied up 6-6 at halftime, The Lake Nona Lions were not quite the Evans Trojans''s equal in the second half on Friday. Lake Nona took a hard 28-14 fall against Evans. While losing is never fun, Lake Nona can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Evans is ranked 110th).
Despite the loss, Lake Nona saw an underclassman step up: Kendrell Kimmons rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Chris Peterson, who rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 116 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. Jermaine Hardy and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Evans' win.
Lake Nona's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Evans, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Nona will square off against Winter Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winter Park will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Evans, they will head out on the road to face off against Apopka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
